A story of the hysteria of World War I and one French intellectual’s quest to oppose it and stay true to his beliefs. I enjoyed it, although there were a few too many references to Roman and Greek antiquity for my taste.
Clérambault is a 1920 novel by the Nobel Prize-winning French author Romain Rolland. It concerns a father’s personal outcry against the militarism of the First World War, after his son dies in combat.
